Overhaul and repair of aircraft piston engines, propellers and components
Scanaviation overhaul and repair of aircraft piston Engines, Propellers and Components. In the the late 1970'ties and the beginning of the 1980'ies after the oil crises, the market for piston engine flights were down and Scanaviation was heavily loss making, lacked management and had sold shares to cover losses.
Being related to the family controlling the company, a moratorium was made with the bank, the ownership taken back, the activities was refocussed to overhaul for the european market and effectively competing in a dollars based market was learned in an environment of of highly fluctuating dollars exchange rate and new US product liability rules stopping production of new piston airplanes, leaving engine manufacturers to focus on spare parts and overhaul.
Despite the negative market conditions, Scanaviation became profitable and growing, and provided for the family involved in the company. As the family moved on from the company, it was sold off without losses.
At present the overhaul and repair of engines totals approximately 200-300 a year and even higher amount of propellers and components.
