Satair
Global supplier of aircraft parts
Satair was established i 1957 to acquire spare part depots for DC-3 Dakota airplanes scattered around the world during World War 2 and provide spare parts at full value to operators world wide. This extended to Fokker PT-6 driven airplanes and to spareparts and consumables for aircraft in a more general sense as distributor for a multitude of manufacturers i various geographies.
On passing the company from the 9 founders to the next generation and to the employees shares came into circulation in the 1980'ies. Being a company growing strongly and having a free cash flow strong enough to pay the purchase from the old generation, available shares was bought.
Despite difficult generation changes in management and overly ambitious acquisition plans, a professional management operationally, financially and acquisition wise emerged. The company was quoted on the Copenhagen stock exchange in 1997 which increased the value of the company significantly. In 2011 the company was sold to Airbus at a high value both relative to the initial quoted value and a very high multiple.
Scanventures role in this journey was to facilitate leadership change, limit ambition driven strategies and maintain operational and post merger integration focus through communication and in the general assembly.
Today Satair Group is a 100% stand-alone company and Airbus subsidiary with $1.3 billion revenue, more than 1,000 employees worldwide and a vision to become the global market leader in the civil aircraft parts management business in 2017.
